Mentorg and CREC collaboration to launch new mentoring programme.
Co-Mentoring for Diversity
Since early 2006 CREC has been working on a program to embrace diversity in all its forms to enable greater equality and community cohesion.
Working closely with ETC (SW) Ltd, who develop bespoke courses, a cross sector research group investigated Mentoring in Cornwall.
The outcome of this identified the need for a mentoring program which embraces diversity in all its forms. Hence the Co-Mentoring for Diversity program was created and is being delivered through MentOrg.
As part of this program new mentoring qualifications at Level 2 have been developed which are currently being launched nationally through the National Learning Directory.
Co-Mentoring offers equality as all participants have the opportunity to gain a full mentoring qualification, unlike other traditional mentoring programs, which focus on an unequal power relationship between the mentor and mentee.
The program has been identified as an innovative and exciting new program to inform future government policy through the Cabinet Office.
